  • 1 woman in 3 dies with coronary heart disease
  • 500,000 die each year--more than all cancers combined

WOMEN'S SYMPTOMS OFTEN DIFFER FROM MEN'S

 

Women often have more "non-chest" symptoms:

  • Neck, jaw, back or shoulder discomfort
  • Abdominal pain
  • Nausea, vomiting
  • Shortness of breath
  • Lightheadedness or dizziness
  • Unusual, unexplained anxiety, fatigue, weakness
63 % who died suddenly of Coronary Heart Disease:
  • Had NO symptoms
  • Had symptoms & were not diagnosed

  • Less likely than men to receive Beta Blockers, ACE inhibitors
