Welcome to HeartScarves

The HeartScarves Project originated in San Diego, CA in 2005. Its purpose is to promote caring and compassion for the 8 million American women currently living with heart disease-the #1 killer of women.

Mississippi joined California in 2006 with the first satellite chapter!

Learn more about heart disease in women in HeartFacts.

Here we will share with you the richness of creativity that exists in our communities and the generosity of those who have donated time and talent. We hope it will lift your hearts to see the beautiful creations that have passed through HeartScarves from donor to recipient. We also hope that the stories and information that we present, will lead to better cardiac care for everyone.

WomenHeart of San Diego North Coastal, WomenHeart of San Diego, and WomenHeart of Central Mississippi are affiliates of the National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease (www.womenheart.org).

Each handmade red scarf represents the lifeline of caring and connection that exist among us all. Our goal is to be able to give a hand-made red scarf, to each member of a local WomenHeart support group, to women undergoing cardiac procedures, and to some of the outstanding people who are advancing the cause of heart health for women.

The love and attention that go into the production of hand-made items, are felt by the recipients, and the makers alike. The HeartScarf becomes part of each woman’s healing journey.
